A Placentia concrete contractor that starts with the ground underneath

I ran a landscaping company for years and got tired of seeing cracked, sloppy concrete in the yards I looked after. So I learned the trade working beside a concrete contractor and started Premier Placentia Concrete in 2013. We're fully licensed and insured.

Every job starts with me in your yard, looking at the ground, the slope and where the water runs, because that's what decides whether a slab holds up. We're based in Placentia and work across the cities around it in Orange County and nearby. You'll find more about us and how we work.

Why neighbors call us - straight talk on concrete

Concrete cracks. I'd rather tell you that up front and plan where it happens than act surprised later. You deal with me from the first visit to the final walk, so the person who priced your job is the one who answers for it.

Questions homeowners ask us

How much does a new concrete driveway cost in Placentia?

It depends mostly on the size, whether the old concrete has to come out and how much digging and packing the ground needs, so I price each one after seeing it. A plain broom finish costs less than stamped or colored work, and a tight side yard that's hard to reach adds labor. Send us the form and I'll come take a look.

Where can I save money on a new concrete patio or driveway?

Save on the finish, not on the ground underneath. The base is hidden the day we pour, so it's the first thing people want to cut, but a slab poured on dirt that was only raked level settles right along with that dirt. You can add color or a sealer later. You can't go back and pack the ground under a finished slab.

How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?

You'll be walking on it well before you can drive on it, and I give you both waits for your slab at the final walk. The wait is curing, the slow hardening that keeps going for days after the pour, and hot or cool weather changes it. Driving on it early is one of the easiest ways to crack a new driveway.

Does a concrete contractor in Placentia need a license?

Yes, in most cases, and we're fully licensed and insured. In California, anyone who contracts for work that needs a building permit, uses employee labor, or comes to $1,000 or more in labor and materials must hold a license from the state licensing board. The City of Placentia also requires an annual city business license for businesses working there, and it asks for that number before it issues a building permit.

Who comes out for a concrete estimate, and who does the work?

I come out myself to look at the job and write the estimate, and our crew lead runs the work on site with our crew. I stop by at the steps that matter most, so you know who to call with a question at any point.

Do you guarantee your concrete work?

Yes, we back our work with one promise, your satisfaction, guaranteed. Before we start, I tell you plainly what concrete will and won't do, including where it's likely to crack and why the joints go where they do, so the finished job matches what we talked about.

Will my new concrete slab crack like the old one?

It will probably crack somewhere, because concrete does, but on a slab built right the cracks usually stay thin and follow the joints we cut instead of running across the middle. Old slabs usually crack badly because the ground was raked level instead of dug out and packed, the joints were cut late or skipped, or the pour went down in midday heat and left a weak, dusty top. We plan for all three, and we add rebar where the slab needs it.

Do I need a permit for concrete work in Placentia?

It depends on the job, and if it isn't clear whether yours needs one, we find out from the city before we price it. Room additions, which often start with our foundation work, need plans submitted to the city's Building and Safety Division. When a permit is needed, we handle the application and book the inspections with the city.
